The company invested approximately EUR400m ($572.7m) in the natural gas-fired plant, which was built by Siemens Energy on a turnkey basis.
Siemens supplied the main components including an SGT5-4000F gas turbine, an SST5-5000 steam turbine, an SGEN 5-3000W generator, and the entire electrical and I&C equipment.
The CCGT plant is of single-shaft design with the main components arranged on a single line of shafting.
The facility is expected to generate enough ecofriendly electricity to power more than 600,000 households.
E.ON Generation CEO Bernhard Fischer said the Gonyu plant will set new standards for power generation in Hungary and help make the country’s power supply even more environmentally and climate friendly.
