The ARRA fund will cover 75% of the cost of the project. The city will also receive funds from Focus on Energy for this project.

Upon completion, the project is expected to help the city reduce its energy consumption by 53.5% and cut the emissions of CO2 by 737,623 pounds, SO2 by 4,060 pounds and NOx by 1,897 pounds.

In addition, the city of Port Washington is expected to save approximately $33,200 per year in energy costs.

Energy Performance Specialists managing partner Rodney Heller said that businesses that upgrade their lighting can significantly reduce their monthly energy consumption, which will help lower monthly operating expenses.

“You have a choice between energy conservation and energy generation. Dollar for Dollar energy conservation is the most cost effective method to reduce your energy bill,” Heller said.
