The latest transaction, whose terms were not disclosed, includes a research and development center of Metrum in Dallas.

Following this deal, Metrum will become part of Aclara Technologies, a member of ESCO’s Utility Solutions Group.

ESCO chairman and CEO Vic Richey said, "Metrum not only significantly enhances our smart grid communications product offerings, but also allows us to broaden our industry-specific AMI expertise to better serve our utility customers."

Aclara president Brad Kitterman remarked about Metrum’s communication technologies which could be a good complement to Aclara’s network offering.

Commenting on the acquisition, Metrum chief executive Steve Swenke said, "Aclara has an outstanding reputation for providing exceptional smart grid solutions to all three utility segments."
