ABB supplied and built the 165 web-connected direct current (DC) fast chargers spread across the country as part of the charging network.

Commenting on the launch ABB Discrete Automation and Motion division head Ulrich Spiesshofer said the nationwide fast-charging network will motivate motorists to switch to electric vehicles, which in turn encourage other nations to invest in their own charging infrastructure.

ABB Terra 51 DC fast chargers can charge an electric vehicle in 15-30 minutes; the fast-charging stations can be used for charging vehicles with DC of up to 50KW as well as those of AC of up to 22KW.

The chargers are deployed in urban areas and on major roads across the nation, creating the highest concentration of DC chargers in Europe.

ABB will also provide technical network operating support services for the chargers, which are connected to the central system, under a five-year agreement.

This network is the world’s first nationwide electric fast-charging network.
