Both the countries, with multi billion yuan investment, are planning to construct power transmission lines across their borders.

State Grid Corporation of China said that, according to a long term deal finalised between Russia and State Grid, 3.6 to 4.3 billion kilowatt-hour (kWh) of power is to be transmitted to China from Russia between 2008 and 2010, 18 billion kWh from 2010 to 2015, and there on with 60 billion kWh of power.

Hu Xuehao, an expert with China Electric Power Research Institute, informed that the domestic companies in cooperation with foreign power companies are conducting feasibility studies on a few electric lines.
