Mr Kelly replaces Jerry Kohlenberger, who will retire on January 31, 2008, after more than 33 years of service.
Mr Kelly joined Exxon in 1981. He was involved in marketing operations for fuel and lubricants. He also worked on refinery logistics and supply chain operations. He worked across the world given Exxon’s scope of business. He was appointed regional director of North America for the lubricants and petroleum specialties subsidiary in 2001. He then became GM of corporate planning 2003.
He participated in the National Petroleum Council’s global oil and gas study, which was commissioned by the US Department of Energy.
