Mr Simon has been a member of the company’s board of directors since January 2006 and has been a member of the management committee since December 2004. As senior vice president on the management committee, he has been responsible for ExxonMobil’s petroleum refining and supply and chemicals manufacturing and marketing operations.
Mr Simon joined the Exxon Company USA in July 1967 and shortly thereafter began a two-year assignment in the US Army. He returned to Exxon USA in July 1969 as a business analyst at the company’s Baton Rouge refinery.
During his career with ExxonMobil, he has held a number of technical, supervisory and general management positions. Following the ExxonMobil merger, he was appointed president of the ExxonMobil Refining & Supply Company and vice president of ExxonMobil in December 1999.
