The first gas turbine for the Phu My 3 power plant in Vietnam was shipped last month, according to owner’s engineer for the project, PB Power. Heat recovery steam generators for the first two units have also been shipped. The $360 million project is located in the province of Ba Ria – Vung Tau. It will provide 715 MW to the national grid, supplying power to Ho Chi Minh city and neighbouring provinces. It should be completed BY the end of 2003. The power plant is being developed by the Phu My 3 BOT Power company on a 20 year build-own-transfer basis. The company is owned jointly by BP, Sembcorp Utilities and Kyushui Electric/Nisho Iwai.
