Developed by NorthLight, the solar project will produce enough clean, renewable energy to power around 21,000 average California homes, and reduce about 33,000 metric tons of water consumption and 39,000 metric tons of CO2 annually.

Construction of the solar PV project is expected to commence in 2014 and could be completed in 2015.

The construction phase is expected to create 410 jobs.

First Solar Project Development director James F. Cook said that North Star will provide construction employment and also contribute to the country’s renewable energy requirements.

NorthLight is a joint venture of Renewable Energy Corporation and Summit Power Group.
