Under the contract, Foster Wheeler will design, supply and erect a 50MWe circulating fluidized-bed (CFB) boiler island for the Tychy heat and power station, which is owned by TAURON Polska Energia.

The contract, which will be included in the company’s bookings for the third-quarter of 2013, has received a full notice to proceed.

Foster Wheeler will design steam generator and auxiliary equipment and it will also carry out the erection and commissioning of the boiler island.

The steam generator will be designed to burn local Polish bituminous coal.

Commercial operation of the new steam generator is scheduled for the mid-2016.

Foster Wheeler Energia Polska president and CEO Jaroslaw Mlonka said this award exemplifies TAURON’s continued confidence in Foster Wheeler’s highly reliable and environmentally friendly CFB design.

"Five of our CFB steam generators are currently online at existing TAURON plants, including the 460 MWe supercritical CFB steam generator at the Lagisza Power Plant in Poland," Mlonka added.

Elektrobudowa CEO Jacek Faltynowicz said the company looks forward to working with Foster Wheeler on this project and are fully confident in Foster Wheeler’s high quality CFB product and extensive experience in project execution.

"Executing the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for this new unit at the Tychy Heat and Power Station is a significant step for Elektrobudowa to strengthen our position and capabilities in power projects in Poland," Faltynowicz added.
