Statoil awarded the contract to Foster Wheeler on behalf of Gassco, the operator of Kårstø and Kollsnes processing plants. The processing plants are owned by Gassled joint venture and Statoil is the technical service provider.

The Kårstø processing plant is situated in the north of Stavanger and processes natural gas and condensate from 28 fields in the Norwegian continental shelf. The Kårstø complex is believed to be Europe’s biggest and world’s third largest export port for liquefied petroleum gases (LPG).

Located in north-west of Bergen, the Kollsnes processing plant processes natural gas from the Troll, Kvitebjørn and Visund gas fields in the North Sea. The plant has a capacity to process up to 143 million standard cubic meters of gas per day.

Foster Wheeler chief operating officer Umberto della Sala said, "We will continue to focus on providing responsive and flexible service, combining our in-depth technical skills and our significant upstream experience and capability to support Statoil in successfully delivering its planned portfolio of projects at Kollsnes and Kårstø."

The agreement offers an option for Statoil to extend the agreement for another two years, while Foster Wheeler can extend it to carry out concept studies and FEEDs.
