A new domestic utility customer in the Midwest has placed an order for combustion modifications and a separated over-fire air (SOFA) system for a small tangential coal-fired boiler.

The SOFA system utilizes a high energy nozzle design that controls airflow from the secondary air ducts to evenly distribute flow through ports above the top elevation of burners.

Fuel Tech’s system includes burner modifications and equipment to fire 100% natural gas, in addition to improving combustion performance and NOx emissions when firing coal.

Equipment deliveries are currently scheduled for the fourth quarter of this year.

Another order has been placed by a new industrial customer from Mexico for an SCR system that will also utilize an ULTRA system.

The SCR reagent will be generated by the ULTRA system and will use urea as opposed to ammonia, which will eliminate the hazards associated with the transport, storage and handling of anhydrous or aqueous ammonia.

Equipment deliveries are currently scheduled for the third quarter of this year.
