Anadarko, along with PetroSA, is operating the first exploration period on the block 5/6 and block 7 of the Orange Basin.
Under the contract, Fugro conducted a survey that included the acquisition of multi-beam echo sounder (MBES) data from the MV Fugro Gauss, along with onboard seep mapping interpretation.
The latest survey is part of a greater Seafloor Geochemical Exploration survey, which has been designed by Anadarko and its partners for the blocks.
The 56,000km² MBES survey provided quality bathymetry and backscatter MBES data for the identification of potential, natural hydrocarbon seepage at the seabed.
During the survey, Fugro geoscientists onboard the vessel, carried out mapping of potential seeps, interpreted the surficial sedimentary geology, structural geology and shallow fluid migration systems, and reported the acquired MBES data.
