According to a statement given by G8 and G5 countries, the nations intend to increase energy efficiency and plans to invest in renewable power generation, which would help in reduction of gas emissions causing global warming.

The statement revealed that the existing coal power plants that release more carbon into the air can be partly remedied by retrofitting.

China, which consumes approximately 40% of the world’s coal, is a part of G5 developing countries which also includes Brazil, India, Mexico and South Africa.
