RIL can produce a little less than 60 mmscmd but is restrained to pump less as the government has to yet select customers for purchase of gas beyond the preliminary 40 mmscmd, assigned primarily to fertilizer and power producers in accordance with the Gas Utilization policy.
Among the buyers so far recognized by the government, Ratnagiri Gas and Power Private Limited (RGPPL) and NTPC Limited are yet to draw even a single unit from RIL’s KG basin D6 fields.
