Gamesa handed over the wind farm, which features 37 of its G80-2MW turbines, to new owner Grupo México.

The wind farm was commissioned in the first quarter of 2014 and Gamesa will operate and maintain the plant for the next five years.

The wind farm will generate enough energy for about 7,500 households per year, representing around 4% of Mexico’s installed wind capacity.

Gamesa said the agreement further strengthens its position in Mexico, where, apart from developing and on-selling wind farms, it supplies, installs and services wind turbines.

The company has developed, built and commissioned more than 244MW in Mexico with a further 70MW in construction.

In May 2013, Gamesa sold a 70MW project, located in Oaxaca, to Spanish energy firm Iberdrola.

Gamesa currently has a large pipeline at several stages of development.

The company has also installed around 1,360MW of its turbines and maintains more than 1,000MW.

Gamesa has to date installed 6,400MW of turbines and has a portfolio of over 18,300MW in Europe, America and Asia.

The annual equivalent of its 30,000MW installed avoids over 45 million tons of CO2 emissions per year.
