Gamesa will supply, install and commission 35 of its G114-2.0 MW turbines at the Valentines wind farm in the departments of Florida and Treinta y Tres.

The company will also carry out the required civil works and electrical installations.

Commissioning of the wind farm is planned for the third quarter of 2016. Gamesa will operate and maintain the facility for 15 years.

Including the latest order, Gamesa currently has contracts and agreements for the supply of 170MW in Uruguay, where it has to date installed 150MW.

In April this year, Gamesa secured a contract to supply 25 of its G114 2MW turbines for the 50MW Maldonado II wind farm, located in the departments of Maldonado and Lavalleja in south-eastern Uruguay.

Phase one of the Maldonado wind farm was also developed by Smartener. It is already operational, featuring 25 of Gamesa’s G97 2MW turbines.

Consultant BTM predicts that Uruguay will experience triple-digit growth rates in wind market with potential installation of 1.4GW by 2016.
