Under the terms of the accord, Gamesa will be responsible for the supply, transportation, construction, technical guidance and commissioning of 104 turbines.

Deliveries will commence in the second quarter of 2016 while the project is expected to enter service before the end of that year.

The project has a provision to increase the capacity to up to 300MW, with installation of 150 wind turbines.

Power generated from the wind farm, which is said to be the first utility-scale wind farm in North Carolina, will be supplied exclusively to an Amazon data center.

Gamesa CEO in the US Borja Negro said: "This agreement reinforces Gamesa’s presence in the US and strengthens the long-standing relationship we have with Iberdrola Renewables globally and in North America."

In the US, Gamesa will have delivered about 2,300MW to Iberdrola Renewables, upon completion of the project.

Gamesa is under contract for the supply of approximately 1,500MW of turbines in Sweden, Uruguay, the US, Poland and Brazil.
