Votorantim Energia, a Brazilian energy company part of conglomerate Votorantim Group, has awarded a contract to Gamesa to supply 98 G114-2.0 MW turbines for seven wind farms located in the Brazilian state of Piauí.

Under the contract, Gamesa will supply, transport, install and commission the turbines featuring Gamesa’s MaxPower technology.

The MaxPower technology is designed to increase the nominal capacity of the turbines from 2.0MW to 2.1MW, thus boosting the total output of the turbines from 196MW to 205.8MW.

Gamesa will also be responsible for the maintenance of the seven wind farms for the next five years.

The company is scheduled to commence turbine supply in 2017.

Separately, Gamesa secured a contract from independent power producers (IPP) ReNew Power to supply 20 G97-2.0 MW class S turbines, for a 40MW wind farm in India.

Under the contract, Gamesa will install turbines, which are purpose-designed for the Indian market, at the Lingsagur wind farm, located in the state of Karnataka.

Gamesa will be responsible for the installation and operation of the project as well as provide the long-term operations and maintenance (O&M) services.

The wind farm’s commissioning is scheduled for March 2016.

With a tower height of 104m, this new turbine variant is custom-designed for the low wind speed sites typical of India.

The contract comes on heels of deals signed earlier by Gamesa with ReNew Power for the supply of 102.65MW in the provinces of Karnataka and Maharaja.
