Gamesa

Under contract, Gamesa will be responsible for the transport, installation and commissioning of 56 G114-2.0 MW turbines at the wind farm.

Designed to harness wind power at the low and medium wind speed sites, the G114-2.0MW turbines are said to be among the company’s most competitive models.

The company has already signed deal for the supply of about 2,000MW of this model in countries including Sweden, Uruguay, United States, Thailand, Poland and Brazil.

Gamesa has already developed the first and second phases of the San Pedro wind complex on Chiloé Island which has a total installed capacity of 137MW.

As per the recent report by BTM, Chile had around 821MW of installed clean energy capacity at the end of 2014.

Recently, Gamesa has secured two contracts to supply 98 G114-2.0MW turbines for seven wind farms in the Brazilian state of Piauí as well as to supply 20 G97-2.0 MW class S turbines, for a 40MW wind farm in India.

The company is responsible for the maintenance of the seven wind farms for the next five years.

Chile is expected to have around 400MW of additional capacity every year until 2025 to cater to the growing electricity needs.
