Distrigaz needs to be divested from French company Suez before the proposed Suez and Gaz de France merger can take place according to the European Commission’s anti-trust regulations. Gas Natural could be looking at acquiring Suez’s approximately 60% stake in Distrigaz.
According to Thompson Financial, Rafael Villaseca, CEO of Gas Natural, commented: We will study that in detail, that’s certain.
The publication said that E.ON, RWE, Electricite de France, Centrica and Enel have also all shown interest in acquiring the Distrigaz stake.
