The first oil cargo, which totaled 70 thousand tons, was loaded following the Russian President Vladimir Putin command to start oil loading and will be delivered to consumers in Northwestern Europe by oil vessels Mikhail Ulyanov and Kirill Lavrov.

Over 300 thousand tons of oil is planned to be shipped from the field this year.

The Gazprom Management Committee chairman Alexey Miller said that the first oil cargo shipment is highly important for enhancing Russia’s position in the global oil market.

"Gazprom has opened a new stage in the development of the Russian oil industry. The first oil produced in the Russian Arctic shelf, the first oil from the Prirazlomnoye field was loaded into the oil vessel to be delivered to consumers," Miller added.

"From this moment the return on the investments in Prirazlomnoye will start."
