Gazprom subsidiary and the project’s operator, Shtokman Development, stated that the selected firms will provide front-end engineering design (FEED) services for the first stage of the project. Russian engineering firms, Rubin and Giprospetsgaz, will also be involved in the project, according to the news source.

Reuters noted that Technip will be conducting engineering studies on the project’s onshore gas complex, which includes the liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant.

Doris has been assigned with the FEED portion of the subsea production system and the offshore platform, while JP Kenny will engineer the 600km offshore pipeline.

The Shtokman project’s FEED stage contracts are expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2009 and the cost of the first stage of the project has been initially put at $15 billion, according to Reuters.
