The partners including EDP Renewables, Neoen Marine and Areva will develop the 500MW wind farms in the areas of Tréport (Upper Normandy) and the remaining 500MW projects in Isles of Yeu and Noirmoutier (Pays de la Loire).

GDF Suez, EDP Renewables and Neoen Marine have incorporated two local firms, one in Rouen (Les Eoliennes en mer de Dieppe-Le Tréport) and another in Nantes (Les Eoliennes en mer de Vendée) for the development of the projects.

The wind projects are expected to create almost 6,000 direct and indirect jobs.

The projects will be equipped with the new Arewa 8MW wind turbine designed for increased productivity and enhanced performance.

In 2014, the partners will begin the R&D activities associated with the projects in the new R&D centre located in Rouen.

During 2015-2017, the partners will be engaged in selecting suppliers, laying of foundations, electrical sub-stations and installation and maintenance services for the wind farms.

In 2018, Arewa will start the manufacturing of 8MW wind turbines at its facility in Le Havre, while the construction of the wind farms would begin in two areas in 2019-2021.

Commissioning, operation and maintenance of the projects would begin in 2021.
