Gaz de France (GDF) said that it is seeking to enhance its presence in Qatar through the agreement and to develop its co-operation with Qatar Petroleum, which exports liquefied natural gas (LNG).
GDF has also been pre-selected by Qatar Petroleum to participate in an invitation to tender for the allocation of new offshore licenses in Qatar.
Jean-Francois Cirelli, chairman and CEO of GDF, said: As a major player in the energy sector in Europe, active throughout the LNG chain, GDF would like to become a significant partner of Qatar Petroleum International and work on the development of joint long-term projects.
