Cofathec believes that the agreement makes it one of the top 10 electrical energy producers in Italy. The agreement includes an investment of E226 million and will take effect in the first few months of 2008.

The combined heat and power (CHP) stations are located on industrial sites. With a net installed electrical capacity of 540MW, they produce 3,300GWh of electricity and approximately two million tonnes of steam power every year.

The electricity produced is currently sold to the Italian authority in charge of electrical networks. The steam power produced is sold to large industrial clients that primarily use it in their production processes.

The agreement will enable Cofathec to diversify and expand its client portfolio and to make its way into the industrial market in Italy.
