GE will deploy the EcoView Residential energy management system at the houses being designed in collaboration with a select group of home builders to achieve at least a 20% reduction in household energy usage as compared to average new homes and incur related cost savings.

The homes that will also be equipped with GE’s Energy Star appliances and Energy Smart compact fluorescent lighting package will leverage the EcoView Residential energy monitoring device to measure and control utility use, realizing the energy efficient benefits of these products.

Advanced Telemetry president Gus Ezcurra said that EcoView Residential addresses the rapidly growing smart grid industry, enabling homeowners to actively participate in taking the pressure off their overloaded grid infrastructure.

“This helps improve grid reliability and security, while reducing residential energy bills and environmental impacts,” Ezcurra said.
