The 24.6MW Plaza Indonesia’s power plant features nine of GE Energy’s natural gas-fueled, Jenbacher generator sets that would provide power to the entire complex which is reliable and economic.

Herman Bunyamin, director of Plaza Indonesia, said: “By generating our own power, Plaza Indonesia is making sure that professionals can work seamlessly, hotel guests can enjoy the amenities continuously and shoppers’ enjoyment at the mall is not disrupted. GE Energy’s Jenbacher gas engine technology offers the reliability and performance we need to help assure a continuous power supply that supports our commitment to ensure the best service for our various customers.”

GE supplied nine of its JGS 620 GS-N.L generator sets, with a total power generation capacity of 24.58MW and 42.1% efficiency, for the mixed-use Plaza Indonesia Complex project in the heart of Jakarta’s business district.

Gatot Prawiro, GE Energy country executive for Indonesia, said: “With the constant electricity shortages in Jakarta, GE Energy’s Jenbacher gas engine technology is an innovative solution that businesses are using to minimize their risk. In addition, by using natural gas, Plaza Indonesia will be generating power that is from a cleaner source than the fuels used to supply the grid.”

The complex expansion is one of Asia’s most prestigious developments. With 220,000 square meters in gross area, the project will integrate a six-story retail and cinema complex, a 41-story office tower and an exclusive, 48-story apartment complex adjacent to the existing facilities. GE’s Jenbacher units will support the entire Plaza Indonesia project, which will be complete with the new office complex at The Plaza as well as The Keraton residential tower in 2009.

Navigat Energy installed the Plaza Indonesia power plant on a turn-key basis and has entered a multi-year operation and maintenance contract to support the facility.
