According to Geopower, the Blue Mountain captures methane from swine waste at Murphy-Brown’s Circle 4 Farm.

The methane, which is released from the swine waste, will be cleaned, conditioned and burned to generate electricity, said Geopower.

The electricity produced at the 3.2MW project will be sold to the Utah municipality, under a long-term and fixed rate off-take agreement.

Geopower Energy managing director and CEO Ben Mead said the strong interest from private investors in company’s debt offering is a show of confidence in firm’s ability to develop energy projects.

"The Blue Mountain Biogas Project is one of the world’s largest producers of electrical energy from swine waste, located on the largest pig farm in the western United States," Mead added.

"This is a high quality project and will pave the way for Geopower to develop other energy projects."
