The tariff will remain constant for a period of 25 years. It will be applicable to wind power projects commissioned or to be commissioned in the Indian state of Gujarat during a period of three years from August 11, 2009.

The order also contains the relevant commercial aspects such as transmission charges, wheeling charges, security deposit and sharing of clean development mechanism (CDM) benefits.

The tariff order aims to encourage the project developers to undertake new wind projects in the state, GERC said.

The commission also said that the tariff order is the outcome of a process of analysis and consultations. GERC kept in view various technical and commercial aspects, guidelines of the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC), the amended wind power policy of the Government of Gujarat and provisions of the Electricity Act, 2003.
