With the deal, Senvion will acquire nacelle production facilities and infrastructure and product portfolio from Kenersys India.
The product portfolio of the purchased assets ranges from 2.0 to 2.6MW and rotor diameters from 82 to 120m, with cumulative installations of 220MW in India.
The deal also covers Kenersys’ wind turbine inventory and the service operations in Baramati, India.
Additionally, the acquisition will provide Senvion with full rights to own, enhance and sell the Kenersys India product portfolio including K82 (2.0MW), K100 (2.6MW), K110 (2.4MW) and K120 (2.3MW) in development.
The German firm will purchase the complete service operations of Kenersys India.
The deal also comprises the production facility, which has nearly 250MW capacity with a potential for further expansion.
Senvion CFO Manav Sharma said: "With this transaction, we can combine these assets with Senvion strengths for presenting superior offers to Indian clients.”
Upon completion of the transaction and obtaining approvals, the firm will be able to commence its operations of the acquired assets with an immediate effect.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Senvion CEO Jürgen Geissinger said: "There are two main advantages of this acquisition: Firstly, we shorten our time-to-market in India rapidly and, secondly, we can build on a strong base to further align the Kenersys products with our existing Indian R&D organization and the well-known technical expertise from our Senvion tech centre in Germany.
“By adding 2MW turbines with rotor diameters of 110 and 120 meters to our existing portfolio, we are able to offer our customers in India even more profitable and cost-efficient Senvion technology.”
India aims to have 60GW of installed wind generation capacity by 2022.
Senvion is owned by India's Arpwood Capital and US-basef buyouts firm Centrebridge Partners.
