The projects, 2.3MW installation in Pownal and 2.5MW installation in Williamstown will be both ground mounted solar arrays.

Construction on both projects is expected to commence in July 2012, with completion expected towards the end of the year.

Gestamp Solar will own and operate the project while RGS Energy, the commercial and utility division of Real Goods Solar will handle the designing and installation.

The projects will produce combined 5,500MWh energy per annum to be sold to Vermont under the latter’s Sustainably Priced Energy Development (SPEED) Program.

Commenting on the partnership under the SPEED program Gestamp Solar VP Pablo Otin said that the program has made Vermont an attractive destination for the development of solar power.
