Eni is selling its 46% stake in Transitgas alongside its 49% stake in German gas pipeline TENP, which runs from the German-Dutch border to the German-Swiss border.
The company has set a deadline of 15 April to receive offers for the proposed sale which is part of an antitrust proceedings settlement with the European Commission.
GIP’s move will represent its first investment in Europe outside UK, if the assets sale is successful, according to Reuters.
