Golden State Biofuel said that the scalable refinery will have an initial nameplate capacity of one million gallons annually. The company will utilize the Biodiesel Club model developed by it to supply members with B99.9 biodiesel, in addition to supplying various biodiesel blends to commercial accounts and distributors.

Biodiesel Club Membership is expected to open beginning in March with B99 prices expected to be competitive with petroleum diesel, starting around $3.25 per gallon, the company said.

The Indio refinery will utilize proprietary refinery systems developed in-house at the company’s Parker, Colorado Research and Development facility. The Indio refinery is currently in the permitting phase and expected to be operational by mid-year. The Indio refinery is expected to generate a number of new-economy, green jobs.

Randall Lichner, chief operating officer of Golden State Biofuel, said: “We expect to initially hire about a dozen people in various positions at the Indio refinery and will be accepting applications and resumes online. Salaried positions will include management, marketing, technical, operations and drivers. Plus, we will also be offering a number of intern positions for college students.”
