The Japan Renewable Project Bond Trust product will allow institutional investors to invest in renewable energy projects through efficient capital market financings, reported Reuters.

Funds raised through this facility will be initially used for solar projects with plans to expand into other renewable energy segments.

The move is part of the Goldman’s strategy, launched in 2012, to support around $40bn renewable energy projects in ten years.

Since 2013, Goldman Sachs raised around JPY9bn ($74m) for around 12 solar projects.

The US banking firm is one of the major investors in Japanese solar projects.

In 2012, the company established independent power producer Japan Renewable Energy, to develop solar, wind and other renewable projects.
