The transfer of the stake in the gas and condensate field to the Kazakhstan government is expected to occur in June 2012.
BG Group and ENI jointly operate the Karachaganak project each with a 32.5% interest, while Chevron International Petroleum Co and Lukoil now hold 20% and 15% interests, respectively.
The Karachaganak field is located in the Pre-Caspian basin and it is estimated that the field contains about 1.236 billion tonnes of liquids and about 1.371 trillion cubic metres of natural gas in place.
