Under the agreement, a small power-plant in Shanxi will be converted to clean coal technology using Bixby’s closed-loop coal gasification technology.
Jason Moore, chairman of GPU, said: “This facility will be instrumental in solidifying all procedures for future power-plant retrofits in the coming years. The Shaanxi facility is the final link to the long-term strategy of bringing Bixby’s technology fully into the Chinese market to help provide natural gas and reduce pollution from coal-fired plants.
“Bixby is looking forward to assisting in China’s strong efforts to clean up the environment and helping to reduce toxic emissions from coal-fired power plants and comply with the Kyoto Protocol.”
The plant is expected to serve as a testing and training facility for future power plant retrofits in China.
