To be delivered between Q4 2015 and Q4 2016, the modules will support NextEra’s continued solar expansion in the country.

Hanwha Q Cells CEO Seong-woo Nam said: "This supply deal will enable Hanwha Q Cells to become the market share leader among global manufacturers in two of the three world’s largest solar markets, the US and Japan."

The modules will feature Hanwha Q Cells’ high-efficiency Q.ANTUM cell architecture, the fully commercialized multi c-Si PERC cell in mass production.

NextEra Energy Resources president and CEO Armando Pimentel said: "We look forward to Hanwha Q Cells delivering solar cells and modules that will provide reliability, efficiency and durability."

Hanwha will manufacture the solar module at its production facilities in Malaysia and Korea.

The order comes after the recent merger of Hanwha Q Cells with Hanwha SolarOne Co.

"This 1.5GW supply agreement is early evidence of the effectiveness of the transformational merger between Hanwha SolarOne and Hanwha Q Cells," Nam added.
