HCC was awarded the Lot II contract on the project by Lanco Infra Tech Ltd. The contract value is US$73M.

Construction works in the Lot II package include excavation of twin 16.5km long headrace tunnels. The works are to be completed within 45 months.

Earlier this year the contractor won the Lot IV package on the project. The works involve construction of the underground powerhouse and transformer, two surge shafts (60m high x 16m dia.), four pressure shafts (5.4m dia.), tailrace tunnels and some headrace tubes.

HCC is also working on National Hydroelectric Power Corp (NHPC)’s 160MW Teesta Low Dam-Stage IV project, in West Bengal.

NHPC’s 510MW Teesta V plant, in East Sikkim District, went into commercial operation early this year.

Separately, the 1200MW Teesta III plant is under development. Teesta Urja Ltd is to have six turbines supplied by Andritiz, and is to be operational from 2011.
