The wind turbines will have 2 megawatt (MW) capacity and will be installed in offshore and on-land wind farms, with combined capacity of 200 MW.
The offshore wind farms, which will generate about a quarter of the project’s electricity output, will be located near Busan and off the shores of Jeju province while on land wind farms including Jeongseon and Taebaek in Gangwon province.
Hyosung has already completed developing 2 MW wind turbine generators while HHI is scheduled to begin producing 1.64 MW wind turbine generators in September 2009 and 2 MW generators during the second half of 2010.
Also, HHHI is currently in the process of constructing a wind turbine plant with an annual production capacity of 600 MW.
