Hindustan Power projects clean energy arm has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Punjab government for two solar projects of 15MW each, and 20MW solar project with Uttar Pradesh government.

Hindustan Power projects chairman Ratul Puri said the solar projects in Punjab will generate about 46 million units per annum of clean energy, eliminating around 45,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions.

"The one in Uttar Pradesh will be instrumental in generating about 32 million units per annum of clean energy, eliminating around 30,000 tonnes carbon dioxide emissions every year," Puri added.

Hindustan intends to commission around 5,000MW of power in the next few years in the thermal, solar and hydropower sectors, while it is developing around 6,100MW of capacity using conventional and non-conventional energy sources across India, Europe and the US, additionally.
