The ministry and Hitachi plan to sign the concession agreement by the end of this year and complete the construction of the power plant by the end of 2020.
According to the proposal, the company has agreed to supply its advanced boiling water reactor for the Visaginas nuclear power plant.
Upon completion, the nuclear facility is expected to generate 1300MW of low-carbon power capacity to be supplied in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland.
