Restore is the newest addition to HoMedics’ family of products. Restore’s UV clean technology utilizes UV light in the C spectrum, UVC, to deactivate the DNA of bacteria, viruses and other pathogens and micro-organisms, destroying their ability to multiply. For more than 60 years, UV light has been used effectively for disinfection and purification in water treatment plants. UV light technology also is used widely in hospitals, laboratories, food and drug facilities, and in a number of consumer products.

“Research has found that UVC light inactivates waterborne pathogens within seconds,” said Philip Tierno, author of The Secret Life of Germs – What They Are, Why We Need Them, and How We Can Protect Ourselves Against Them. “HoMedics is the first to bring this technology to an easy-to-use home water purification pitcher. Users can watch the purification process in action as the UV bulb illuminates for 60 seconds, activating the short germ-killing cycle. Restore brings cleaner water to homes, plus supports ongoing environmental efforts by eliminating the use of plastic bottles.”

Restore is California certified for microbiological water purification, a first for a water pitcher utilizing UV technology. Additionally, Restore is Gold Seal Certified to National Sanitation Foundation standards by the Water Quality Association (WQA). To maximize health and well-being, the product is also free of BPA, a common agent used to make plastics and suspected of causing negative health effects.

The Restore water purification system includes an eight cup capacity pitcher with a built-in UV lamp, one replaceable filter, one power adaptor and a three-year limited warranty.
