Conoco Inc has given the go-ahead for what will be one of the largest, cleanest and most efficient combined heat and power stations in Europe at its Immingham, Humberside, refinery. Development and construction is by UK subsidiary Conoco Global Power and is to start immediately. The 730 MW gas fired plant will supply steam and electricity, steam to a neighbouring refinery and power to the National Grid. By making use of refinery by-products, gas flaring and the consumption of fresh water will both be reduced.
