The company is currently evaluating the bids and said it will unveil the winners as early as possible.

The related energy must be available for a minimum of 300 hours, particularly in winter months. Contracts will cover a 20-year period, with power available and guaranteed as of 1 December 2018 or by 1 December 2019 at the latest.

Hydro Québec issued the present tender in March 2015 to meet what it claims to be the very high demand in the winter peak period.

The services of Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton have been retained to assist in the tendering process and to act as Hydro Québec’s official representative.

The Government of Quebec is sole shareholder of Hydro-Québec, which produces, transmits and distributes electricity.

The company, which has four divisions, uses mainly renewable generating options, specially large hydro, and supports the development of other technologies like wind energy and biomass.

Hydro-Québec undertakes construction projects as well as R&D in energy-associated fields, including energy efficiency.
