Hydrops software from Canada-based Charles Howard & Associates (part of the Powel group) has been designed to optimise short-term, mid-term and long-term generation scheduling and maintenance, taking into account hydrological forecasts, reservoir and river routing, hourly energy price forecasts, machine efficiency and licence and contractual constraints.
In the last year, a comprehensive Hydrops system has been developed for the Baker river in Washington. Hydrops has also been used to create a flood operations model for Winnipesaukee Lake in New Hampshire and a relicensing study in Minnesota.
