Under the terms of the contract, Hyundai will build a new 380kV substation as well as upgrade an existing substation near the port city of Jeddah.

Hyundai will also be responsible for the design, construct and pilot run the facility, reports constructionweekonline.com.

The substation project is part of Saudi Arabia’s larger effort to build up its electricity production capability by 2019.

Furthermore, the country has earmarked an investment of $80b for the development of power infrastructure.
