The plant, which is located in the towns of Alexandria and Danbury, attracts a $150m investment in the New Hampshire economy and could provide up to 300 jobs during construction.

The decision to develop the farm comes after the company signed a 15 year power purchase agreement at fixed-price with four Massachusetts utilities.

The company already completed environmental assessment studies and surveys for the project and it is now looking for state approval with the New Hampshire Site Evaluation Committee.

The project would provide $1.6m in annual income to the area, the company said.

Once developed, the plant is expected to produce enough power to meet the needs of 30,000 local households.
