According to Elster, EnergyAxis will automate smart meter data collection for Idaho Falls Power’s electric customers, enabling faster demand response, improved load control and voltage conservation.
The smart grid solution will integrate with third-party smart grid technologies to create a comprehensive system for Idaho Falls.
Idaho Falls Power general manager Jackie Flowers said Idaho Falls looks forward to realizing the operational efficiencies of a comprehensive smart grid system while enabling its customers to proactively monitor and manage their own electricity consumption.
Idaho Falls Power’s deployment of the EnergyAxis solution is part of the US Department of Energy’s $178m Pacific Northwest Smart Grid Demonstration Project.
