Illinois regulators have announced that they have approved a proposal to allow Commonwealth Edison Co to build a 345 kV transmission line in Will County, Illinois. The scheme is due to enter service in 2001.
The new line will connect the existing substations at Lockport and Lombard. It is designed to reinforce the utility’s bulk power transmission capability.
The scheme originally included an additional section linking a further substation but this was abandoned to expedite approval of the Lockport-Lombard line.
